Unit conversion toolbar

For version 1.7:

Unit conversion toolbar is shown on the picture:

Tasks toolbar

Use the toolbar for conversion units of measurement of a category.

It is very simple! Select a category in that you need to convert units. In the second list select a system, from that you want to convert. Further, select base unit, target system and target unit.

Example:

For example, let's convert meters to feet of the USA unit system:

Now change the value of the meters:

The value of the feet is changed also.

On the same document you can convert another units. Read more »

Units conversion

Natural Calculator can convert units from one system to another and display the result in other units of the same system. Conversion of units within one system can be performed automatically when the expression result is calculated (if the unit is not defined exactly). To convert the result into another system, it must be defined exactly.
Units are automatically searched during the first expression result calculation. The expression result calculation context menu can be used to select a certain unit and unit system. This menu allows the user to select the necessary unit and its system to convert the result.

Simple units

Simple units are represented by one symbol.

Example:

In the following example, length units are defined. Because the unit system is not defined, the program uses the default system the metric (SI) system.

Unit systems

There are many unit systems, and Natural Calculator can work with them.

As mentioned above, there are only nine built-in units. They refer to the metric system (this system is built-in). The metric system is set in the program as the default one. Its main units are the basis for other units and unit systems.

In the previous chapter, we explained the declaration of user-defined units. All those examples refer to the metric system. To declare a unit of another system, you must type its name exactly in the lower index during unit declaring ([Shift]-[3]).

User defined units declaration

Common rules must be followed when performing calculations.

Example:

Addition and subtraction must be performed with the same units:

Such variants are false:

Multiplication and division:

The unit is used in the result only if it is declared above the result or exists in an include file.

Example:

The unit Hz is declared in the second line and used in the third line. It does not appear in the first line of the result calculation of the first expression because it is declared later.
